UKIP inflicted a body blow to the three main political parties in the May 2014 European Elections. A jubilant Nigel Farage hailed the outcome as “an earthquake”. Labour came second. The Tories suffered the humiliation of  THIRD place.

But the May 2015 General Election wasn't so kind to UKIP, the 'First Past The Post' system favours the established parties...

Conservatives, 11.34 million votes, 37% of the total, won 331 seats in parliament.

Labour, 9.35 million votes, 30.4% of the total, won 232 seats in parliament.

UKIP, 3.88 million votes, 12.6% of the total, won just ONE seat in parliament!

LibDems, 2.41 million votes, 7.9% of the total, won 8 seats in parliament.

The SNP, 1.45 million votes, 4.7% of the total, won 56 seats in parliament!

The Greens, 1.15 million votes, 3.8% of the total, won 1 seat in parliament.
